The Louisville Family Animal Hospital Team has been closely monitoring the unfolding of COVID-19 and its impact on our community. The rapidly changing environment of this pandemic, and what is now considered a national emergency in the U.S, has caused a global adjustment in our personal and professional lives. Rest assured we are currently open for regular business hours and are continuing to monitor the situation as it evolves. We will alert you promptly with any changes.
Given the key role that social distancing plays in controlling the spread of COVID-19, we feel that it is important to minimize client interactions in the lobby and the clinic in general. As of 730AM, March 18, 2020, we will be moving to a curbside format for all appointments. We will remain open for pets but request that you please call us at 303-661-0702 upon arrival. We will obtain a history regarding your pet and a staff member will come to your car and bring your pet(s) into the building. The doctor will perform our typical full exam and then call you back with our findings and recommendations for care.
For routine care visits, we will do our best to complete all communications and services within a 45-minute window. If it is more convenient to admit your pet for a longer period of time, just let us know and we will attempt to accommodate your needs.
We have always offered to admit patients for care while their family members went to work, ran errands, etc, and many of you have utilized that option in the past with great success. This service is still available.
If you have prescription medications or food to pick up, please call us upon arrival. A staff member will deliver your items to your car.
Beginning Monday, March 23rd, we will be suspending all non-urgent surgical procedures until at least April 14th in compliance with the executive order from Governor Polis. This order is meant to preserve personal protective equipment for the health care workers directly dealing with COVID-19. Your pet's health is of utmost importance to us so rest assured, we will still be performing all urgent procedures and surgeries.
If you currently have a surgery scheduled, we will be contacting you to reschedule the procedure if it is not detrimental to your animal's health. Please feel free to talk to one of our doctors about any concerns you may have on postponing procedures or if the procedure your pet needs is considered urgent. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Beginning Thursday, March 26th, we will be attempting to comply with the "Shelter in Place" order issued to Colorado as much as possible. Puppy vaccine series, kitten vaccine series, rabies vaccines and leptospirosis vaccines are considered essential and we will still schedule these appointments. Medical concerns are also considered essential and will continue to be scheduled. If your pet is due for a routine wellness appointment, nail trim or anal gland expression, we will be scheduling these after April 17th. If you have any questions about whether your pet should be seen, please call us at 303-661-0702. We will also be continuing our curbside protocol during this time.
We are closely monitoring the guidance of the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and local authorities regarding the spread of the virus to ensure that the actions that we are taking are comprehensive and appropriate.
