Health Certificates for Domestic and International Travel
Meeting the health requirements to take your pet on a domestic or international trip can be daunting!
Most travel in the United States usually requires a recent health certificate and proof of vaccination (especially rabies). Be sure to check with your airline as soon as your plans are set , as they may have special requirements.
International travel with your pet is subject to the regulations of the country to which you are traveling, and the process can be quite complicated in some cases. Many countries have strict entry requirements including a USDA Health Certificate, current rabies vaccination and microchip identification. In some cases, blood testing for rabies antibodies, or for antibodies of other diseases, are needed as well. Additional information regarding the specific country requirements for international travel may be found on the USDA website.
